Thank you for relating the fun and wholesome story! It sounded like a travel book to me, primarily because of Frankenstein
And I'm sorry you felt embarrassed
It's cool that you are acquainted with Tezuka manga! I remember enjoying the tv anime series of Black Jack very long ago and vaguely remember a few episodes including the origin story of Pinoko, but I've never read the manga itself
I also remember in my childhood I was scared of an older anime series of it directed by Osamu Dezaki because it had a more frightening atmosphere than the tv series!
It's fun learning which manga titles are being shelved in foreign bookstores, especially in Dublin where I have no clue. I could have expected Death Note to be sidelined rather than Black Jack
I guess most older people in Japan know well about Black Jack since it's a classic series, so your anecdote with an old lady was somewhat refreshing to hear
It would be wonderful if the experience of her had kindled her interest and made her a Tezuka fan

>There's a manga called Historie
It looks familiar to me! I've seen this panel from it as a popular meme, it's the only thing I know of it
I should give it a try to figure out what was happening in this scene, thank you for sharing it!
>There's also another manga called Afghanis-tan
I remember anime style anthropomorphism was popular at that time like Hetalia and OS-tans but I've never heard of that one!
