Do you read manga? I like sugary romance manga but have a hard time finding good ones (pic related (it's a good one)).

I liked reading "nito no joreishi" a bit, the author is definitely an empty shell of a human being just like me , the art is good also, it will never end though.
I guess that I like action manga, the more violent, gory and "fair" (a manga about torture would be no good) the better .

Among the Kirara comics I started reading recently, I was impressed by Shiawase Tori-ming, a bird watching cgdct.
Hidamari Sketch and Machikado Mazoku are as nice as their anime adaptations too

Outside cgdct, Shigurui is the only manga I recently finished reading and it was great as I mentioned in >>2050 >>2079

Yes right now I’m reading Vinland Saga.
I wish there were more historical anime or manga like a manga set in the Peloponnesian War, Julius Caesar’s life, Hundred Years’ War, or the Jomon period

I think there can be a lot of interesting stories made set in the ancient world. You can even make it into an Isekai. konata001

I've slowed way down on watching anime, and have been reading a lot more manga lately. Ika Musume has been very cute so far, and I recently finished Siscon Ani to Brocon Imouto ga Shoujiki ni Nattara which was a surprisingly pleasant and wholesome read! Assuming you're into that sort of subgenre anyway :)

I believe there are many historical manga series, though neither can I name a lot

>>2286
>I've slowed way down on watching anime, and have been reading a lot more manga lately
It has occurred to me recently that I should rather be more inclined to read manga than watching anime because in the era of media saturation monochromatic comics are less likely to inflict sensory overload on me

>Ika Musume
I'm nostalgic about it, I wasn't watching the anime when it was a thing though I was aware of it
Because you mentioned it, I've just started reading it in the hope that it will succeed Kinmoza for me to amuse me in a similar wholesome way

Yes!

On a recent trip to Dublin, I visited a comic shop to see what they had and was surprised to find a stray single of Black Jack. neatly tucked into the corner next to full shelf of death note volumes. I loved Tezuka, just had to have it. Even if the cover (pic attached) is super ugly. I didn't go into that store expecting to buy anything, but when I left I had about, 100 euro worth of books in my bag. ranpha003 I read it shortly thereafter whilst on the train back home, an old woman sitting across from me was curious about what I was reading. I said a comic book, she asked if she could see. I gave it to her, and she opened to a page of Black Jack assembling Pinoko's body parts she was very taken back, I felt super embarrassed in that moment. ranpha003

So, the book itself. If you don't know, which if id be very surprised if you're on a site like this LOL. Black Jack is about an unlicensed doctor, and his adoptive daughter/assistant Pinoko, going on medical adventures, usually involving a tragic backstory or a supernatural illness. Every chapter is self-contained, and is around 20 pages each. Its quite cartoony, but can really get horrific at times as well. I highly recommend for anyone getting into Tezuka Biography and or showa era animanga.

I found some while searching a while back

There's a manga called Historie on Alexander the Great and there was actually an anime announced for it a week ago. It's exactly what I was looking for!

There's also another manga called Afghanis-tan. It's really short. It's more of a history lesson, but it's still good and it has cute girls.

Thank you for relating the fun and wholesome story! It sounded like a travel book to me, primarily because of Frankenstein karen004
And I'm sorry you felt embarrassed ranpha003

It's cool that you are acquainted with Tezuka manga! I remember enjoying the tv anime series of Black Jack very long ago and vaguely remember a few episodes including the origin story of Pinoko, but I've never read the manga itself
I also remember in my childhood I was scared of an older anime series of it directed by Osamu Dezaki because it had a more frightening atmosphere than the tv series!

It's fun learning which manga titles are being shelved in foreign bookstores, especially in Dublin where I have no clue. I could have expected Death Note to be sidelined rather than Black Jack konata001

I guess most older people in Japan know well about Black Jack since it's a classic series, so your anecdote with an old lady was somewhat refreshing to hear
It would be wonderful if the experience of her had kindled her interest and made her a Tezuka fan shino002

>There's a manga called Historie
It looks familiar to me! I've seen this panel from it as a popular meme, it's the only thing I know of it ranpha003
I should give it a try to figure out what was happening in this scene, thank you for sharing it!

>There's also another manga called Afghanis-tan

>Thank you for relating the fun and wholesome story! It sounded like a travel book to me
You're welcome!
>primarily because of Frankenstein
Speaking of Frankenstein. I've picked up a copy, and I've begun reading through it. It has been years, since I had first read it. So I'm very excited.
> I remember enjoying the tv anime series of Black Jack very long ago and vaguely remember a few episodes including the origin story of Pinoko
I know what series you're speaking about, I like it as well! It's closer to the source material, than the osamu dezaki version you mentioned being scared of. The Dezaki version was my introduction to black jack, i think its great!
>It's fun learning which manga titles are being shelved in foreign bookstores, especially in Dublin
Its mainly very popular Shonen titles, with some other titles like the work of junji ito. You wouldn't find any slice of life titles or the like, at any place I've been to. So I don't think youd find much that'd interest you over here, lol.

Another thing you wouldn't find is any Bande Dessinée (European comics, if you don't know) Which, for me personally is very disappointing. ranpha003 I wish BDs were more popular, not only in Ireland, but the entire world.

>It would be wonderful if the experience of her had kindled her interest and made her a Tezuka fan
That would've been funny to imagine, lol.
